After spending the better part of a decade working as a crime reporter, Harvilla transitioned to covering environment, science and agriculture. The shift allowed her to hone her investigative, writing and interviewing skills. She has documented increasing signs of climate change and questioned national, state and local officials about environmental policy.

With more than 15 years of experience working as a journalist, she has developed an eye for detail, nurtured an insatiable curiosity to explore the human condition, learned to multitask, meet rigid deadlines, communicate complex ideas to audiences across the country and worked on numerous web CMS platforms.
